Heather attributes much of her talent to the support she recieved
from her family. Parents, John and Emma Robbins recognized and fostered her
talent at a very young age. She remembers childhood gifts of paints and sketchbooks.
Heather continued to paint and sketch into adulthood, joining the
Nanton Art Club in her late twenties. Although she was kept busy raising her
two children and helping her husband Randy on their ranch, she managed to enter
Art Competitions and Art Shows around the area.
In 1991 Heather took part in a water colour workshop thru the Federation
of Canadian Artists, in Victoria. Under the instruction of Allessandra Bitelli,
Carl Dalilo, David Maclayan and Stephen Quiller, she experimented with mixing
colour and new painting techniques.
After moving to Rocanville, 2002, Heather joined the Back Roads Art
Guild and finds their support and influence a tremendous gift to her life as
an artist.
Heather's work has spanned from harbour scenes, still life, to nature.
She finds incredible inspiration in the natural prairie world and strives to
capture her love of wild plants and animals on canvas. Two of Heather's recent
paintings were chosen to grace the covers of the Saskatchewan nature publication "Blue
Jay" in the fall of 2003.
Spring 2003 Heather recieved "Honourable Mention"for her "Ruby
- Throated Hummingbird" and was picked "People' s Choice" as
the favorite artist at the OAC Moosomin Adjudicated Art Show. Spring of 04 and
05 again recieved Honourable Mention and People's Choice for OAC Moosomin Adjudicated
Art Show. August /05 received Honourable Mention for her "Canteloupe
and Tomatoes" entered in Atelier Manor's "Renaissance" Art
Exhibition.
In March of 06 Heather's painting "Becker's Team" was
featured on the cover of the March/April 2006 issue of "Show Trail" magazine,
the official publication of the Saskatchewan Horse Federation.
Heather moved to Winnipeg in 2007.
In 2009 she joined the Manitoba Society of Artists (MSA) and shortly
thereafter became the Vice Preident of the Society. |
